Various modes of reading exist to provide each and every one of us with our preferred method of consuming our books. Hundreds of thousands of authors try to grab our attention in order to become our go to author. This blog post provides data that helps to break down the latest trends. 

What are people reading?

What devices are people using most? 

People consume books in many different ways, but the three most common are physical printed books, e-readers, and audio books. 

67% of people say that they have read a physical book in the last 12 months. 

26% of people say that they have read a book on an e-reader, or via a website, in the last 12 months.

18% of people say that they listened to an audio book in the last 12 months.

It turns out that India is the most prolific country for consuming books and newspapers in the world, with the UK and USA a distant 25th and 22nd respectively. This shows the average number of hours per week allocated to reading.
