Giovanna Fletcher Author Profile

Posted by Mumble Books on

Giovanna Fletcher, one half of a well-liked and popular power couple, and now Queen of the Castle of I’m a Celebrity 2020, has every right to be proud of her career. Despite being married to Thomas Fletcher from McFly, Giovanna has forged her own career over the last decade that, recently, has greatly eclipsed that of her husband.

An accomplished author, Fletcher has carved a niche for herself, writing the kind of romantic fiction that would rival the likes of Marian Keyes and Cecilia Ahern. Yet, full time writing almost came about by accident.

Prior to publishing her first novel, Fletcher worked in film and TV, with minor roles in TV drama The Savages and the film The Boat That Rocked. During this time, she worked internships at Heat and Bliss magazine while writing a satirical novel titled Dating McFly is for Dummies – this, unfortunately, was never published. It wasn’t until she met author Dorothy Koomson that she was convinced to write full time, the result being the 2013 novel Billy and Me.

The move has proven highly successful, with seven popular romance novels and two non-fiction books to date. Most recently she dipped a foot in the young adult market, collaborating with her husband on The Eve of Man trilogy. Set in a world where no girl has been born in decades, it tells the story of Eve, the first girl born in fifty years, and her struggles living in a male dominated world. The first two books in the trilogy, Eve of Man and The Eve Illusion, were met with rave reviews and favourably compared to The Hunger Games and Divergent.

While she has taken the last few years to concentrate on motherhood – her non-fiction book Happy Mum, Happy Baby is devoted to this, and is the name of her podcast – there is no sign of Fletcher slowing down. She is now the host of CBeebies show The Baby Club and released her second non-fiction work, Letters on Motherhood, in 2020. Winning I’m a Celebrity this year almost feels like a bonus.

The as of yet untitled third and final Eve of Man book is due for release on 31st March 2021.
